Weekend

  • 6th Math: pgs. 46-47: problems 31-51 odd numbered problems
  • page 48: mini test practice: all odd problems
  • English: read 1/2 hour every day. Your September book report requirement is any award-winning book or classic book.
  • Math test on Wednesday when we return from the 3-day weekend
  • Have a great weekend!

Thursday evening

  • It’s Back to School Night: 6:00 – 7:30PM
  • Math: pg. 46: 1-29 odds
  • English: read 1/2 hour

Wednesday evening

  • No 6th grade math
  • English: read 1/2 hour and record in your log/schedule
  • Send your parent to Back to School Night tomorrow for $25 class bucks

Tuesday evening

  • Spelling & vocabulary test tomorrow
  • 6th math: pg 43: questions 4-12 (all problems)
  • 5th English: work on vocabulary sheet for story Earthquake Terror; due Friday

Monday Evening

  • 6th Math: pgĀ  ff: 21-41 odds
  • Finish your picture poster and bring in tomorrow.
  • Study for your Vocabulary 1 test on Wednesday!

    Hello Chris,
    This is William Chacon’s mother. Is it possible for you to give me some information about the vocabulary test? I specifically would like to know if the students will be writing the exact definition down on the test or if they will be required to provide a sample sentence using the vocabulary words.

      There are two parts: spelling and vocabulary.

      Spelling obviously must be exact. The vocabulary section will not be using the word in a sentence (that is a practice method for helping to learn the meaning of the word, but it only works if there is someone to check up on your definitions). Students will be required to write a definition that closely follows the definition I provide, but it does not need to be exact.

      For example, the word “detail” has the definition: “a very small part of a bigger piece, sometimes very intricate or difficult”
      An acceptable response would be “A small part of a bigger piece.”

      Another example, the word “diagram: a drawing or picture used to instruct or explain
      The part ‘instruct or explain’ is crucial to the meaning, so a response would have to include those words or something similar to it, such as “a drawing used to teach.”
