Welcome to 6th Grade at Adelante!
Hello! I am Chris Holm, and this year I will be teaching English Language Arts, Literature, Math, & PE. I will be working with Maestra Anna to bring your child a fun, challenging, and rewarding school year. You have a lot of papers to look at today, so I will be brief with this newsletter.
* Check the list of required supplies to be sure your child has everything needed for the year. For students who have not been able to get to the store, I have for sale a limited supply of spiral notebooks ($1), pens (10¢), pencils (10¢), rulers (50¢), and erasers (50¢).
* To help your child find the way he or she learns best, we are taking a “multiple intelligences” survey based on the research of Dr. Howard Gardner of Harvard University. I hope to use this information this year to make school work more fun and meaningful to your student.
* My class has a fun classroom economy simulation, so be sure to read the description papers I’m sending home. Students will need to turn in their “job applications” and letter of recommendation (if required) by Wednesday to get the best jobs.

* Back to school night for us is next Thursday, Sept 1 at 6:00 PM. Be sure to come as Maestra Anna and I will explain our classes. We will also discuss the Yosemite trip! This year it will be from April 30 – May 4, for 5 days and 4 nights.
