Homework for Feb. 11-17
4-Day Weekend Homework
- Math pages 331-332 odd problems. Police check on Tuesday.
- Math test on Chapter 17 on Wednesday.
- Finish the complete draft of your persuasion paper. At least 2 body paragraphs (see below) and a conclusion paragraph.
- The conclusion paragraph has:
- A positive tone
- Brings in and ties together the PRO arguments (reasons) from your body paragraphs
- Extra credit: uses another example of creative, image producing language.
- An interesting concluding sentence.
Wednesday Night
- Do math pages 328-329, all odd problems
- Rewrite the 2 body paragraphs of your persuasion paper so that they have:
- the PRO argument (the reason in favor of your thesis),
- what you think would be an objection (the CON argument)
- the counterargument to the CON. Do it as we showed on the board in class.
Tuesday Night
- TIG: Read through chapter 19
- Writing: 2 body paragraphs on persuasion essay, using your best 2 reasons and 2 counterarguments. Polish / tighten up your intro paragraph. Help on pg. 341-343.
- Reading logs are due NOW.
Monday Night
- Math pg. 323, problems 1-22 (all)
- Write the final draft of your thesis paragraph (the introduction paragraph). It needs to have these 3 items in any order:
- The thesis (topic). This is what you are writing about.
- Show that there are two or more sides to your argument.
- Use language that gives an image, or picture in the mind of the reader.
