Notices for October 1-5

  • Thank you to everyone who turned in on time your deposits for the Yosemite trip. We have only a few more checks to come in, and then we can send in our deposit (which is due today). If you have not yet sent in a deposit or your blue commitment sheet, please do that tomorrow. Thank you.
  • I have a new web site with class assignments and this newsletter. You may view it at: chris618.wordpress.com
  • By now you have heard that there was a fire in the boy’s bathroom on Friday. I want to complement all of our students – the few who were in the classrooms with me and maestra Anna got out quickly, calmly, and safely, and the children who were on the playground assembled in their correct areas. Great job everyone!
  • Now that our first full month is past, we will gradually be getting more and harder work to do. Please check this sheet or the new web site for the assignment list.

  • We will be working on pages 21-25 in our grammar books this week, plus additional worksheets on subjects and predicates. All will be collected for grades.
  • Spelling tests are not going well for many students. Please be sure that your child is practicing their spelling as I have taught them in class.
  • Many students did not do their math homework on Thursday. I will be phoning parents for mini-conferences for students who repeatedly do not turn in homework. They are at risk of failing.
  • Please record your child’s reading on the weekly reading sheet, and return it on Monday.

* Thank you for coming to Back-to-School night. It was great to meet everyone!

* We have received approval and booked a date for our field trip to Yosemite National Park with the Yosemite Institute (YI). The dates are Monday May 27 (Memorial Day) – Friday May 31, 2008. We have finished our first week of school and baseline testing, and will now begin our regular schedule.
Every student now has a classroom job. Ask your child what his or her job is, and what the pay and job description is.
Thank you to everyone who provided tissues and white board markers for our classroom. We will be using both this year!
