Newsletter for January 7

*    Welcome back from our long winter break! I hope everyone is well rested and had an enjoyable time with family. It is good to be back at Adelante and to see everyone again.
*    Thank you very much for the $50 gift card to Cafe La Tartine! My wife and I have already had an enjoyable lunch there, and are looking forward to going back again.
*    We will begin our math where we left off, working in chapter 5 with fractions. We have done good work in catching up, but I have calculated that we are still about 5 days behind where we need to be in order to be ready for state testing. Therefore, I will continue to work the schedule so we cover everything we need to do.
*    We have 5 more math chapters to complete before state testing in April. It will be important for everyone to do their homework and keep on top of their assignments as we have to move quickly to cover everything.
*    The required book for January is “a book from a new genre that you have not reported on yet this year.” This means if your child has done reports on fantasy and realistic fiction this school year, he/she needs to find a new genre to read, such as historical fiction, mystery, science fiction, etc. The book must be at your child’s reading level, but does not have to be an award winner. Talk with the teacher if you or your child is uncertain about the book they have selected.
*    Looking forward, in February students will have to read a biography, and in March, a non-fiction book for their reports. Unfortunately, the Adelante school library does not have many books at the 6th grade level in these categories. Beginning in February, students will be required to visit the public library to get their books for these reports. Please go early in the month so that your child does not fall behind.
*    I only assign work that is critical for meeting state standards, so it is critical for all students to do every assignment. Students who do not turn their work in are required to stay after school on Tuesdays and Fridays until they complete their work. Tomorrow’s group of students who need to stay is posted on my web site.
*    The government is reporting that they expect the flu season to be especially bad this year. I had the flu a few years ago, and it was terrible! It kept me home for two weeks with fever, chills, headache, and weakness. If your child has not had a vaccine yet, please get one this week from your regular provider. The county also offers free vaccines with no identification required.

* * *

* Bienvenidos de las vacaciones de invierno! Espero que todos estén bien descansados y que tuvieron un tiempo agradable con la familia. Es bueno estar de vuelta en Adelante y ver a todos de nuevo.
* Muchas gracias por la tarjeta de regalo de $50 en Cafe La Tartine! Mi esposa y yo ya hemos tenido ya un almuerzo agradable allí, y estamos con ganas de volver de nuevo.
* Vamos a comenzar nuestro las matemáticas donde lo dejamos, trabajando en el capítulo 5 con fracciones. Hemos hecho un buen trabajo en la captura de arriba , pero he calculado que todavía estamos cerca de 5 días detrás de donde necesitamos estar para estar listo para las pruebas de estado. Por lo tanto, voy a seguir trabajando para que el programa cubre todo lo que necesita hacer.
* Tenemos 5 más capítulos de matemáticas para completar antes de los exámenes estatales en abril. Será importante para todo el mundo para hacer sus tareas y mantenerse en la cima de sus tareas como tenemos que actuar con rapidez para cubrir todo.
* El libro necesario para enero es “un libro de un nuevo género que no han informado sobre aún este año.” Esto significa que, si su hijo ha hecho informes sobre la fantasía y la ficción realista en este año escolar, él / ella tiene que encontrar una nuevo género de leer, como la novela histórica, misterio, ciencia ficción, etc El libro debe estar al nivel de lectura de su hijo, pero no tiene que ser un ganador del premio. Hable con mi si usted o su hijo tiene dudas sobre el libro que han seleccionado.
* De cara al futuro, en febrero los estudiantes tendrán que leer una biografía, y en marzo, un libro de no ficción por sus informes. Por desgracia, la biblioteca de la escuela Adelante no tiene muchos libros en el nivel de 6 º grado en estas categorías. A partir de febrero, los estudiantes deberán acudir a la biblioteca pública para conseguir sus libros para estos informes. Por favor, vaya al principios de mes para que su hijo no se queda atrás.
* Yo sólo asignar el trabajo que es fundamental para cumplir con las normas estatales, por lo que es fundamental para todos los estudiantes a hacer cada tarea. Los estudiantes que no entreguen su trabajo están obligados a quedar permanecer después de la escuela los martes y los viernes hasta que completen su trabajo labor. MañanaEl grupo de estudiantes que necesitan mantenerse mañana está publicado en mi sitio web.
* El Gobierno informa de que esperan que la temporada de gripe que es será especialmente malo este año. Tuve la gripe hace unos años, y era terrible! Se me mantuvo en casa por dos semanas con fiebre, escalofríos, dolor de cabeza y debilidad. Si su hijo no ha recibido todavía una vacuna, por favor uno esta semana de su proveedor habitual. El condado también ofrece vacunas gratis sin identificación requerida.
